How do I volunteer?

On arriving as a volunteer you will be asked to complete a simple consent form and to remove any visible jewellery from your neck or facial area. The image recorded will only be of your head and shoulders so below this area will not be visible.

We will record most volunteers in their everyday clothing. However, your clothing must not identify your location or be revealing. For example, you should not wear regional football shirts, work clothing with company details/logos or low cut vest tops.

You will then be asked to sit on a stool facing a camera with your feet firmly on the floor and your arms resting loosely down by your side or in your lap so that your shoulders are relaxed.

A trained VIPER® operator will inform you of the process about to take place and explain that a 30 second moving image will be recorded of your head and shoulders. When the filming begins you should look straight into the camera lens and try not to look at anything else in or around the room. During the 30 seconds the VIPER® operator will ask you at specific times to turn your head to the left and later to the right before returning back to look at the camera. The turning of the head should be at a natural speed so that the camera can record your side profiles.
